Villa La Massa - the Search for Tranquility

Villa La Massa, is a splendid mansion immersed in the heart of Tuscany, located a few kilometers outside of Florence, Italy. This charming Medici villa was built in the 16 century on the banks of the Arno River. and has been home to several aristocratic Italian, English , and Russian families before it was transformed into a luxury hotel in 1948. In 1998, the Villa d’Este Goup purchased the hotel, completely renovating it and restoring it to the Renaissance splendid old mansion it once was.

Its 22 acres of gardens contain lemon trees and olive groves that surround the property giving it a pastoral setting.

The 37 guest rooms, all different from one another,  include double rooms, junior suites, and suites with views of the garden, the countryside, or the river.  The rooms are decorated in the renaissance style with antique furniture, four-poster beds, and buffeted terracotta tiles, typical of the Medici period. . All have the amenities one would expect of a luxury five star hotel - spacious marble bathrooms. Air conditioning, satellite TV, high-speed internet connection, a safe , and a minibar.

Restaurants include Il Verrocchio, a unique dining experience  with a terraced overlooking the Arno, The Cellar located in the Old Mill, and the Medicean Bar and Pool Bar which serves drinks, cocktails, light meals, salads, and snacks until midnight. The menu contain a broad daily choice including both Tuscan regional specialties and Mediterranean specialties. The wine list contains over 300 labels that are kept in its wine cellar.

The fitness center has state-of –the –art equipment and a wellness room for a wide ranges of massages. There is a lovely pool with a wonderful view of the surrounding countryside.
